Update: If you haven't gotten an answer on your application, that doesn't mean you're denied, it just means that we're still deliberating on it, and you may still have a chance to get in.
We are no longer accepting join requests.
Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we cannot respond with a detailed explanation of why an applicant is declined.
We greatly appreciate all of your interest and your submitting your galleries for us to see. We are not here to "judge" your artwork or what you need to improve, so please do not be discouraged if you are declined. All of your drawings are wonderful and unique and you should work hard to continue to improve!
We look for many things in an application: consistency of your art (we don't know what potential you have or the quality you will submit to the art book if you don't have a sample of it in your gallery), amount of details, anatomy correctness, color choices, ability to do backgrounds, scenes or illustrations (non-patterned bg use) and how the style/ideas would fit into the existing art book artists.
You do still have another shot at the art book - you can resend an application with a link to the finished artwork you want to appear in the book. There is no guarantee we will accept this, and we don't want to encourage you to spend lots of time and your hopes on something that might not work out, so please think carefully.
